Our Story
MPS was started to bridge the gap between scientific research in high-performance psychology and actual performers. As former athletes, we were shocked by how little we knew about our own competitive and performance psychology! Had this information been shared with us earlier, our athletic careers would have been more successful, enjoyable, and rewarding.
Empowering our clients with the psychological tools to be successful in competition has always been the goal. Our flexible brand of mental skills development allows our clients to get the most out of our time together. We hope you’ll join us as we continue in our mission; “Human performance optimization through mental skills training.”
“Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.”
- John Wooden
Our Mission
We strive to deliver the mental skills packages our clients need to achieve their performance goals. We believe in a collaborative approach to mental performance enhancement that meets the needs of our unique athletes, performers, and coaches. Our clients’ feedback is sought at all points in the coaching relationship to ensure we are meeting and exceeding expectations!
The Process
While the product you receive will be tailored to your performance goals, the MPS skill-development process will follow the same checkpoints. These steps ensure you are leaving MPS with all the knowledge you need to sustain a high-performance mindset.
1: Goal-Setting
In this phase, we identify your personal competitive goals. Whether you’re looking to maximize your performance or find greater enjoyment in the game, MPS is here for you! These dynamic and flexible goals will serve as a measuring stick for all of our work together.
2: Evaluation
Everyone has intrinsic mental skills! In the Evaluation phase, we identify your strengths and areas for improvement. Our skill-development process will enhance your existing tools and introduce relevant additions.
3: Skills-Training
We'll typically complete Goal-Setting and Evaluation in 1-2 sessions. The Skills-Training phase will take more time to complete. We introduce mental skills based on your existing abilities, which means there is no perfect timeline for your development. We only progress when you can consistently implement the strategies we practice in-session.
4: Review
The Review phase is the culmination of our work together. If we have achieved your performance goals, then we have accomplished our mission! At this stage, clients often refresh their performance goals and reload another phase of mental skill-development!
